Description

Michael Freedman Racing Pty Ltd are currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join their stable. Positions are full-time and available at Randwick.

The successful applicant/s must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.

Young Horse Trainer/Rider:

  1. Able to ride horses per morning (with particular emphasis on riding pace/timed work and jump outs)
  2. Able to educate our horses on the ground with ability to manage a small team of horses and staff and prepare horse training reports for the head trainer and
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage client communication and training systems designed to track the horses in training.

Essential Skills:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of at least 3-year full time professional experience in the role
  • Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing
  • Proven ability to train and educate young horses
  • Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information
  • Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses

Desirable Qualification:

  • A Certificate IV or equivalent international qualification

Terms of Employment

The salary will be above award – in the range of $65,000 to $75,000 per annum depending upon the level of skill.
